Female Geeks?

Ok internet, my publisher has said that they would prefer a female geek for the cover of Geek Knits. In a dream world, who would be the female geek you would love to see on the cover of a knitting book? (Besides Felicia Day. Trust me, I asked) Obviously she would need to be someone famous and recognizable! As in, recognizable from across a bookstore!

  1. Aisha Tyler. Kate Leth. I'll think on it more. :-)

  2. Mayim Bialik
    Melissa Rauch
    Pauley Perrette
    Gillian Anderson
    Tina Majorino
    Amy Acker
    Alyson Hannigan
    Kaley Cuoco
    Summer Glau
    Natalie Portman
    Rosario Dawson

  3. I have totally voted for Mayim Bialik in the meetings.

  4. Mayim would be great, Alyson Hannigan also! I want to throw a vote in for Kate Mulgrew.
    Morgan Webb? I like her.
Felicia seems to be the "face" of girl geeks at the moment though. Would it be insane to say Carrie Fischer? I don't know how lofty we're going here.

  5. I vote for Mayim Bialik from Big Bang Theory. Love her. :-)

  6. Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars)

and I second the nominations of Gillian Anderson, Amy Acker, and Nichelle Nichols.

  7. I second Summer Glau and Amy Acker!! Jennifer Hale (voiceover artist extraordinaire) would rock my world as well but probably not be as recognizable.

  8. Summer Glau, Jewel Staite, Kristen Bell, Amber Benson, Team Unicorn, Linda Carter or Lucy Lawless.

  9. Kari Byron from Mythbusters might be a good choice! Jeri Ryan (Seven of Nine) is at least geek-adjacent with a lot of geeky friends but I don't know if she self-identifies.

  10. Danica McKellar played Winnie Cooper on "The Wonder Years" and has also published books on mathematics.

  11. I'd say Lala Ward, since she's published her own knitting books, but I'm afraid she's not as recognizable to the younger folks...

  12. Sorry, that should be "Lalla"!

  13. Ohhhhh Nichelle Nichols.
    What a lovely soul.

  14. Danica McKellar! Yes! I think you did well in asking this--it's refresing my memory on the lady geeks as well.

  15. I'm going to second Kari Byron. She's crafty, and definitely has the geek cred. Also rather instantly recognizable.

  16. Kari Byron, Nichelle Nichols & Cara Santa Maria would be my first picks.

  17. Allison Scagliotti, Summer Glau (especially with her current running in Arrow it's revamped the fandom),Jewel Staite, Mayim, and Kari from mythbusters (I'm sure she'll have some explosive ideas xD)
