So as of right before the Holidays, I had lost 43lbs since the Arch Rival Roller Girls bout last season. As of today, I've lost 45lbs since the Arch Rival bout last season!!!!
It's been a very slow, gradual loss, and I'm feeling pretty damn awesome about myself! Playing that bout was an inspiration as the Arch Rival Roller Girls are just in ridiculously good shape, and it showed! (and I saw pics of myself and went, *shudder*)After that bout, I got a wii active and started using it every day. Then I cut out sugar, white flour, and alcohol from my diet. I stepped up my derby training, running, or doing an active workout before and after practice. Plus PUSHING myself harder during each practice! I got the Insanity workout, which is... um, insane! I've only done one day, and it kicked my ass. I'm going to try and do one of those per week, but honestly it makes my legs SO sore it's hard to skate!
I'm seeing more track time this season, and I feel like I've become a better overall skater. I can wear skinny jeans, and have gone down about 3 pants sizes and 1 shirt size. (large to medium)
Only 10lbs to go! I'm hoping to take off the last 10 by March!

  1. I am so, so proud of you. Not only do you look great; but it must be nice to feel more badass!

  2. Wow! 45 lbs! I'll have to tell the rest of ARRG!

  3. Oh hell, I just spelled my own name wrong. Stupid typo.

  4. Congrats on the weight loss.

I'm sorry for posting my question here, but I can't find the info anywhere.

In Knockdown Knits, I've heard there is a pattern for baby booties in the form of skates. Is this true? I've looked at the Table of Contents at amazon, and I don't see that (booties, yes, skate booties, no).

I really want a pattern for bootie skates, and I'll buy the book if it has this pattern. I'd buy the book anyway if I weren't a full-time PhD student who, after having my baby in April, my measly salary as a graduate teaching assistant will put me and my baby under the poverty line. Thank goodness for student loans... :)

Anyway, sorry for hijacking your comments page, but if you could answer my question, I'd appreciate it!

  5. No problem for the hijack! Yes, there IS a pattern for baby booties that look like skates! It's called Breaking Rule #1.
A few people have made them on ravelry. If you're a member, you can look at my profile there and see pics of them!

  6. So you find the Wii fit to provide a good workout? I've been eying one of those. I need to find a fun workout that will work with my hectic schedule.

  7. Laura I actually think the wii active is a better workout than the wii fit. The active sets up workouts for you on the 30 day challenge, or you can customize your own. I consider myself in good shape and I get out of breath and sweaty on the 30 day workouts! High intensity, without the balance board. (so you can jump)

  8. Aah. I am ignorant in the ways of the Wii. I didn't even know what a Wii active was! I wish I could rationalize the expense right now.

I did a low carb diet and exercise routine in the fall, and I lost a decent amount of weight on it.
